Anyone sending kids here? Wanna share experience / stories of how our kids cope?
I have a five year old daughter going to Smart Reader. She was very enthusiastic and excited BEFORE we had her enrolled in it. But after about 1 week became frightened about going there. Now everday my wife has to threaten with a rotan to get her going to school. Its been a daily affair like this..... *sigh* _________________ Before you criticize someone, make sure you walk a mile in their shoes. Smart Reader class is very easy including the books.
not like our old time kindy or std 1 school books and the method.
Sumthing must be wrong... talk to her.......
maybe there is sumthing that she cld not do in the class. or she doenst understand. _________________

She keeps telling us that all the children are laughing at her and called her "scaredy cat" so much so that she is afraid of the school already. We discussed this with the teachers also. They mentioned that in her class there are only few chinese students and she is the only Indian with the rest are made up of Malay students as majority. The teachers mentioned that the others are not as good in speaking English as our daughter so it is impossible for them to tease her as my daughter claimes. Well it does look logical to me on what they explained.
My guess is she must be imagining this as she watches Astor Disney channel from dawn to dusk at home and she must have picked it up from any of the programs where the children might have teased some poor kid. She thinks she might be treated the same way too. I dont know, I can only guess. But lately we have been getting good progress reports from her teachers. She now mixes well with other kids and started p[laying with them. Its a good sign. Though her crying and throwing tantrums at home for not wanting to go to schoool are still there, even though lessened abit, she handles well when she is in there. I think she'd get over it in time to come. _________________ Before you criticize someone, make sure you walk a mile in their shoes. But J...... dun just listen to the teacher...... u must also see what is happenng before the class starts and after while waiting to be fetch.
Maybe the teasing happens at this time. _________________

my wife has watched before and after classes too. It didnt happen. We also know the lady who cooks for the kids there who is an Indian lady and she too feedback that no one teases her. But we are watching over her continuously also. Maybe its a form of insecurities that some kids go thru, you know like monsters under the bed, etc... _________________ Before you criticize someone, make sure you walk a mile in their shoes. pity the little baby....
Hey Jey.....you use rotan on a five year old child...shame on you.
If she is refusing to go, so be it. I'm sure that she has a good reason to do so. Maybe what is being taught there is redundant for her, so she feels bored not excited as she anticipated. |

really jey, you are not angry rite? sorry if i were harsh.
please listen to your child, using rotan is not a solution. its painful and the child would suffer emotionally.
even, we adults want people to listen and discuss with us to solve our problem. |

Speaking abt imaginary friends. My friend experienced this with her 5 yrs old daughter. She would be talking to her friend.. laughing and giggling.. sometimes she would drink with her imaginary friend. I was there once when she was playing with her imaginary friend. I asked her whats her friend's name and she told me her name was Nikita (becoz her name was Yogita) and that she is 5 yrs. But then when she starts going to school, she slowly forgets abt her imaginary friend... _________________ We grow by our dreams.... Keep dreaming... |

I think playing with imaginary freinds is common with little kids that age. I have not seen much of it from my kids though apart from her playing by herself at the back seat of our car and talking and singing... sometimes she mimicks the teachers words and actions. Its fun to watch her do that. Shows she been paying attention in class. _________________ Before you criticize someone, make sure you walk a mile in their shoes. Jey, i do spank my kids...that reality...we should not spare the rod.
But, in your kid's case, talking to her will be more effective. |
