This is an important message and article:-

KUALA LUMPUR, Mon: Two Malaysian Bar members yesterday were invited to speak about the Police and Your Basic Rights booklet - or popularly known as the 'little red book' - on state-owned television station RTM2.

Amer Hamzah Arshad and Edmund Bon, shared their views on why was the booklet launched and issues related to police and rights on RTM2's 'Hello on 2' programme yesterday morning (which was aired live from 8am-9am).

The little red book, endorsed by the Bar Council and launched in April, is a 31-page booklet published in four languages detailing what a person should do when stopped for questioning.

Amer explained that the booklet, among others, also listed persons rights when arrested, during investigation and remand proceedings.
He said the idea to publish the booklet was mooted by a group of lawyers - who formed a group called 'TANGKAP' - after the height of the nude ear-squat controversy late last year.

He jokingly clarified that the little red book had nothing to do with the red book version in China, which contained the thoughts of communist leader Mao Zedong.

To a question by the one-hour-long programme hosts, Bon said the booklets had received overwhelming response since its launch after the 10,000 copies printed had been snapped up. He also mentioned that the 2nd batch would be out soon with some fine-tuning after receiving feedback from the public.

During the call-in segment featured in the programme, a number of callers in particular from the East Malaysia asked where they could get the 'little red book'.

To this, Bon said the booklet could be easily downloaded from the Malaysian Bars website www.malaysianbar.org.my.

In response to a visually impaired caller, Edmund said that the Bar council would also study into the possibility of coming up with a 'braille' or audio version of the red book.

The duo, who are known for their works in advocating human rights, also took questions from callers relating to the police force. One caller from Sabah asked what he could do as he was 'threatened' by police.

Responding, Amer told the viewers that apart from lodging a formal report and seeking legal help from the Sabah law society or legal aid centre, it also showed the necessity and importance to set up the Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC), which the Bar Council has vowed its full support for the setting up of such mechanism.

I will also post the Red Book's content..

Its a very important information for us.
